Andrew Hoskins, a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University, is currently serving as the country director for Medical Teams International(MTI) in Monrovia, Liberia. MTI is a Christian non-profit organization with a mission to demonstrate the love of Christ to those affected by disaster, conflict and poverty around the world. Recently Andrew sent us this note:
The extent of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is unprecedented. In the midst of this chaos, we as the Church can stand firm in the knowledge that God is in control. Verses like Romans 8:28 don’t cease to be applicable in circumstances like this, they are the foundation of our belief. Every Sunday morning in churches across Liberia you still hear the exchange between pastor and congregation, “God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good.” We say this because it is true. God IS in control. He can use even this horrific situation to His glory. So pray for the church here. Pray not only for protection and healing, but for boldness in the face of fear—a supernatural trust in a God that we know is in control and who is working for the good of those who love him.
We’re thankful for Andrew and the many health care workers and others who are responding with compassionate service during this time of great need.
